Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Neuro-Sensitive Services:

Neuro-Sensitives are those who are more sensitive to the 5 senses than others, who are frequently referred to Neuro-Typical. In addition, Neuro-Sensitives can be very sensitive to foods, chemicals, emotions, intuition, and the energies of people, places, things or situations. For these purposes, Karlta also works with those on the Autistic Spectrum (ADD, ADHD, Asperger's, Autism) whether they have a formal diagnosis or have self-identified. Her philosophy is that all people, including this portion of the population, are lovely, wonderful, gifted people who sometimes need assistance with the parts of their lives that make it troublesome for them to manage their day-to-day living.

Karlta has been working with this population since 2000, providing energy work either in her office or at a distance (remotely). (For more information about how this works, please click on “working with Karlta.”) She has worked with children as young as 3 up through the adult years. For the last 6 years, she has been part of a small networking group of alternative healthcare providers who works with this population, reading professional articles; sharing professional wisdom and experiences; and asking Spirit for insight as to how to best serve clients and their families without pathologizing them. In communication with her Spirit Guides, she uses techniques adapted from Healing Touch, as well as other techniques that her Spirit Guides have taught her to address a range of issues.

She uses “general techniques” geared specifically for supporting optimal life-long function and wholeness overall. This sets the foundation for a client's long-term independence and ease, and makes it easier to manage specific issues a client might be having. There are also “specific techniques” she has learned to use for particular issues such as digestive issues; traumatic situations or situations that cause a client to want to withdraw from their surroundings; curbing impulsivity and increasing focus; stabilizing sleep patterns; smoothing out hormonal ebbs and flows around puberty to ease aggression and/or emotional lability; and easing language issues. Language issues range from word choice and vocabulary, to understanding the nonverbal parts of language: body language, tone, pauses, implied meaning, etc., to the physical formation of language with breath control, and muscle control of palate, tongue and voice box.

She communicates with her client's Higher Self to understand better what is needed in a particular situation or to help them understand familial issues (such as why certain behaviors can be upsetting to a family unit but that upset-ness doesn't mean that the family is upset with the person involved). She can also work with a client's Higher Self to explain what to expect of a new experience for someone resistant to novel experiences, help the client understand the bigger picture of how to better function in society as a whole, or to teach their Essence exercises for learning how to govern their energy fields themselves to increase their independence.

You can expect her to start by getting a history (either from the client or from their care-givers) and setting up an appointment either in the office or from a distance. Distance work for this population is not done over the phone except for history taking. After the work is done, she will write up an email about what she perceived during assessment, what was done and why, and anything that was shared in terms of intuitive guidance or information from the client's Higher Self.

Because much of the work with this population is on the neurological system, and because the nerves are the slowest growing cells in the body, and because of the role of ongoing stimulus in shaping neurological function (also called neuro-plasticity), she has found that consistent work over time shows the best outcomes. She is flexible in how this might look and is open to discussing this further.
